PETROLEUM EXPERTISE has teamed up with TRACS International to promote and deliver two training programmes for the oil and gas industry.

· E&P Technical Foundation Programme

· Asset Management for E&P Specialists

The technical foundation programme has been designed to give young graduates and new recruits an excellent start in the oil and gas industry.  The programme is suitable for delivery to multi-disciplinary groups and provides an excellent introduction to all aspects of oil and gas exploration and production.  This programme is available in 3-week and 4-week delivery options.

This programme will give delegates a “headstart” by:

· Improving their understanding of all aspects of the E&P business,

· Accelerating their early development, and

· Helping to establish them as effective, professional engineers.

The programme has the following characteristics:

The event is based on existing generic material which has been designed for an offshore / onshore environment in terms of reservoir setting and facilities, embedded in a PSC commercial environment.

The event includes components of team building; technical classroom teaching; case-based exercise material; and, if possible, a plant visit (for surface engineering) and a field outcrop (for subsurface).

The ‘red thread’ through the event is the life-cycle-based case study material which the teams work on to the point of delivery to a ‘management team’ at the course close.

The course includes the following themes:

Global E&P Business; Field Life Cycle; Exploration Methods & Concepts; Risk Management; Drilling Rigs, Equipment & Processes; Well Planning & Data Acquisition; Appraisal Planning; Surface Engineering & Facilities Options; HSE; Field Development Planning; Petroleum Economics; Operations & Maintenance; Production Management; Mature Fields; and Decommissioning.

An excellent short programme for more experienced E&P Engineers who want to perform better in a national or international company environment.  This course is aimed at professionals experienced in an E&P specialist core discipline. The course has the following objectives. It will:

  • Improve cross-disciplinary understanding of all aspects of oil and gas exploration and production, and improve the effectiveness of integrated, multi-disciplinary, team work
  • Demonstrate the value of integrating the technical and commercial disciplines involved in upstream asset management
  • Elucidate key business drivers and decision making processes needed for value creation and delivery
  •  Emphasise the external requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Emphasise the role of HSE, in particular process integrity, for asset operators, regulators and stakeholders

The recommended course length is two weeks (10 days)

The course includes a number of case studies which will allow participants to apply the discipline knowledge residing in their teams.  Tutorials will clarify subject matter where required and help the integration process.  The course will cover the following themes:

Block 1:    Asset Lifecycle Framework

Industry Overview: Supply & demand; Asset Stakeholders: IOCs, NOCs, NGOs Regulating authorities, Public perception; Upstream / downstream integration; Gas contracts, markets & pricing; Oil markets & pricing; Unconventional oil and gas; Carbon capture & storage; Asset management strategies for a portfolio of assets; Risk and uncertainties in asset management, mitigation strategies; Budgeting oil and gas projects, managing cashflow; Financing options.

Block 2:    Managing New Developments
